Reflections and Advice:
1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative to other boarding schools?
There is an Independent Study Program, through which you can do whatever you want - academic research, community project, arts, or sports. It helps you to make your independent work more systematic.
2.) What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school?
Communicating with students and teachers, and taking social science classes, I changed my priorities and became ready for the career aspiration switch - from scientific research to public service.
3.) What might you have done differently during your boarding school experience?
Try to talk to different people, not only those you got to know immediately.
4.) What did you like most about your school?
There are different people - from different backgrounds, with different interests - so you can easily find someone to be a friend with.
5.) Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students to your school?
HDT3 is the best dorm if you want to have a nice community
Academics:
1.) Describe the academics at your school - what did you like most about it?
It is super easy to find a teacher to work independently with. Even tho I exhausted the curriculum in some spheres, I was able to continue studying what I wanted through Independent Tutorial. I also was able to find two teachers with whom I worked on two different research papers.
Athletics:
1.) Describe the athletics at your school - what did you like most about it?
Track and XC teams consist of really nice people and do not have a toxic sports atmosphere. There are many beautiful spots on and off campus to run.
Art, Music, and Theatre:
1.) Describe the arts program at your school - what did you like most about it?
The music teacher is an actual composer and just a genius in music - he can supervise you really well and help you grow as a musician. He is also a very nice person.
Extracurricular Opportunities:
1.) Describe the extracurriculars offered at your school - what did you like most about it?
There are just many clubs - and you can easily create your own. It is super easy to find what you want to do.
Dorm Life:
1.) Describe the dorm life in your school - what did you like most about it?
Usually, every week we have a dorm feed - teachers buy some nice food for the dorm. If it isn't your first year, you can easily get a room with a person you want. There is also a big number of singles for seniors.
Dining:
1.) Describe the dining arrangements at your school.
Brunches on Sunday are just delicious - usually, you can have an omelet with whatever ingredients you like, as well as numerous other delicious food. The food is also always different on Sundays, so you never get bored.
Social and Town Life:
1.) Describe the school's town and surrounding area.
The town is pretty small, but there are several restaurants, two shops, barbershop. I really enjoyed the Thai food restaurant - ThaiBowl.
2.) Describe the social life at your school - what did you like most about it?
Even before I came to school, some people reached out to me and help with starting an academic year. When I got on campus, I quickly found friends. The school is pretty small, and it is extremely easy therefore to get to know almost everyone.
